Our Story
In 2007, while working on The Lion King in the West End, David Blake recognized a growing need for dancers to diversify their skills. To address this, he started teaching a weekly class at Danceworks studio that blended various dance styles, helping dancers become more versatile, adaptable, and grounded in their craft.
As the demands of the dance industry continued to evolve, David saw an opportunity to make a bigger impact. In 2009, he founded Blake Arts to create a dedicated space where dancers could receive comprehensive support in technical training, mentoring, and enhancing their employability. This initiative was designed to empower dancers, bridging the gap between artistic development and the practical skills needed to thrive in the competitive field.
Today, Blake Arts has evolved into a multidisciplinary creative hub that provides a wide array of resources, including coaching, mentoring, career strategic support, high-quality performances, workshops, and masterclasses, all designed to support and empower performing artists and creators. We are dedicated to nurturing the growth and presentation of talent across all stages of their careers—from emerging artists to those transitioning or in mid-career. Our mission is to equip them with the skills necessary to thrive in a constantly evolving global arts landscape.
